Rebecca Dixon, one of the four co-founders of the*gameHERs, joined CSU Global esports coach Byran Hummel for an interactive virtual event on Sept. 27, 2021. The*gameHERs is a women-led community dedicated to amplifying and centering the voices of women, femme-identifying, and non-binary gamers who are comfortable in spaces that center women. Their mission is to advance the role, voice, image, and power of all the*gameHERs in the gaming world.

During the webinar, Dixon explained that although 46% of gamers are women, the majority have experienced severe harassment while gaming, including physical threats and stalking. The*gameHERs was created as the first and only women-centered hub for those in the gaming industry to connect safely.

Dixon shared that, “The biggest theme that we heard as we were interviewing thousands of women before we launched our company was the desire for a safe and easy way for them to connect with each other.” Because of these insights, the*gameHERs is currently developing an application to facilitate these connections that will be available by the end of the year.
